I copied the entire thread to this point. I do believe that the woman is carrying on a bit much over the circus ... I for one do not go to the Circus ever .... mistreatment of the animals and all ... I could go on and on but I won't.

Raped at the circus

There might be lions and tigers and bears and elephantsin the center ring, but the stands are full of jackass paying out the ass.Shouldn't someone be in charge of the costs of food products? How about these prices for outright rape of the kids:

Popcorn - $8.00
Cotton candy - $12.00
Sno cone (in an animal shaped cup) $12.00
2 pcs of chicken and fries - $16.00
soda - $6.00
beer - $9.00

a 10" high clown doll - $25.00

And they have these vendors lined up as soon as you walk in, like you're funneled into vendor's hell. Unbelieveable. It won't happen again. My husband, two kids and myself left $165.00 there. Oh, and $22.00 fora ticket and we had to sit all the way in the back. And guess what, people were lined up paying these outrageous prices.

Why not just say NO to the kids. We did, and they still had a great time.

(This poster had quite the reaction ... now I find it interesting that he/she thinks everyone should suck it up and overpay for things likeasausage and pepper sandwhich. Now I'm not claiming to be perfect ... however do you not at least try to check your spelling before hitting the submit button. Or ... were you hitting the bottle a bit because in my opinion this is the mother of all over reactions! Times are tough and things do cost more ... but you sit an bitch about taxes and being over taxed ... do things not also go up for the city? I'm just wondering ... )

You got off cheap at that circus.

The Doherty, council circus charges millions.

We are heading back to the good old days when you brought a box lunch, today you would more than likely get arrested for such activity.

This is about the dam silliest thread I have seen ... arguments over the cost of the circus ... come on people get a grip.

On another note ... do any of you read the City-Data Forum? I have noticed that Dan Hubbard is turning it into a mini DD ... it used to be that the posters were all very respectful to one and other ... and now Danny Boy is posting pic's of sheep all over and calling the posters "Sheeple" .... not that this fits into this thread ... but I thought I would point out how that is somewhat going down .... not really a nice board anymore! I don't usually post as little Danny seems to get his panties in a bunch every time I write a response so I now only pretty much read and it's getting a DD feeling to it lately. Just thought I would point that out.

What you have there is whining for the sake of whining. Pretty pathetic actually.

As for me, I hate clowns. Yes...hate...as in despise, loathe, etc. So guess what? I've never taking my kids to the circus.

Speaking of pathetic, you have night-watchman Sarge trying to somehow make an analogy between high prices at the circus and Mayor Doherty and council....although he is right in one regard: City Council is a Circus.

Lus for the same reasons I've stopped by City-Data less and less lately. A few times folks have called DannyBOy out on why if things are so bad he stays here and basically he told them he's taking care of his ailing father (I think that's where his anger is coming from) and that once his parents die and his kid is in college him and his wife are outta here. later when I have more time I'll look for what he actually posted.

That darned Jessup faction of the ICN (I-talian Catholic Network), dd will find SOME way to blame this price gouging on the Denaples family. Even the Scranton faction of the ICN charges only $4 for a sausage and pepper 'sangwich' on Parade Day.

Maybe Justin should have just stayed home with a bag o' chips and roller derby on the cable. PCN is televising past Races of the Saints for those stingy bastards who want to participate on the cheap.

Clearly, this person paid those prices. Who's the jackass?

Now, the prices quotes are also clearly not for one of each. Lets go with a family of four and break it down.

Popcorn-- $4.00 each, tops.More likely$2 each, so each of you had a box.
Cotton Candy-- $3.00 each. All of you had to have cotton candy?
Sno Cone-- I'll give you $6 each because of the stupid animal cup, but I guarantee you the paper cone was at least $2 per cone cheaper.
Chicken and Fries--$16 for the four of you. And for as much crap as you've fed your kid and yourself thus far at the circus, would it have killed you to cook something at home before you came? Maybe included a vegetable? Insulin isn't cheap, and if your kids aren't already obese and diabetic, it's clear that they're at least spoiled rotten.
Soda--$3 each. Naturally you got the largest size available.
Beer--$4.50 each. First of all, was teh beer necessary? Secondly, $4.50 for a 16 oz. draft at an event such as a ball game, circus, or something of this nature, is hardly unreasonable.
Doll--$25. Well sure, you failed to say no to anything else to this point, apparently, why start now?

"It won't happen again"---OOOOOHHHH! Tough talk, sucker. It already happened. Like taking candy from a baby. Think twice before referring to anyone as a sheep. See you again next year, dumbass. Bring more cash next time, and don't misrepresent your own inability to say no to your precious little angels as vendors overcharging to the extent you want us to believe.

Lies and misrepresentations is all that your post contained. Empty calories, just like, it would seem, your diet. Go grab that pop tart and tell me off now.

Great post Paul ... nice slap of reality there ... If she didn't want to spend the money on the circus she should have just stayed at home.

I for one never go ... not because of the prices ... but if I did go I would be prepared to spend ... but I have to agree with you ... if she cooked at home it probably would have been only the cost of the Doll ... a few snow cones and drinks ... soda ... there should have never been beer involved in a family outing ... just my opinion ... but do children really need to see their parents drinking beer at the circus and then getting into the car to drive them home? I think not!

You have to prepare for these collisions with vendors at the circus.

1. You fill the kids to the brim at McDonalds on the way to the circus.

2. You fill yourself to the brim at McDonalds on the way to the circus.

3. Stick a few candy bars and a coke in your purse just in case.

4. Grow a set and tell the kids "no" for a change.

He didn't use as many words as you ... well I don't think he capable of putting together his thoughts in the same manner ... but he basically said the same thing with a lot less words ... I think he is reading your posts ... LOL

You should get some sort of royalty fee from him.

When you go to a spectacle like that, you should expect to spend a fortune on the crap they throw at you. They wouldn't be doing their jobs if they didn't bombard your kids with every piece of senseless bull$hit. We went to the same circus a few years ago and bought our son one of the snowcones in a tiger cup. Cripes, the thing was as big as his head - but a small bucket of shaved ice with a spash of rootbeer was part of the experience for him.

Do we go every year? No, but he was a kid at the circus and we had no problem spending a few bucks on the spectacle of it all.

Am I able to say 'no' to my son? Absolutely, and I pride myself on the fact that when I told him he could buy one thing, he chose something that he could take home and use later. The cup was cheesy, but it was cute and he remembered having a ball at the circus.

If you couldn't afford it, stay the hell home and read them a book about the circus. Did it put a smile on your kids' faces and did your kids have a good time? If they did, then quitcherbitchin - it was money well spent.

We've agreed, basically, on two things lately. The gun thing and this.

Obviously, one of us have meds that work.
