The topic title references a DD thread about the new proposed business park, across the Scranton-Carbondate highway from Scranton HS.
The negativity is utterly amazing...
...one poster complains that the land should be turned into a park (that DD goons can whine about, just like they do about Nay Aug)
...another complains that houses should be built there (that DD goons can complain about, just like they do about the Village at Tripp's Park)
Now I'm all for a vigorous debate about real issues, which could include the price paid for the land in question, but to read what the DD folks are writing, they would just as soon see the land stay exactly as it is, namely under-developed and overgrown. That, I think, is the crux of the issue for many who gravitate towards the Pilchesky center of the unvierse: they simply don't like change...any change. Talk about "coal-miner" mentality.
As for me, I think the office park is a great idea. The location is ideal, and SLIBCO has a very good track-record with similar projects (W.W. Scranton Office Park, for example). What's the worst that can happen? The land is developed and the park isn't filled? That's not so horrible, as the net result will still look better than the current state.
