Doherty wins by default. Who in their right mind would want to inherit 100 million in debt, 500 totally pissed off municipal union members, 300 miles of unpaved streets, the worst bridges in the state, imposing a mandatory 45% tax increase just to pay the light bill and more deadend paper trails than Mellow and Harhut have hotel vouchers?

It's a certifiable trainwreck. If I was either Janet or Gary, my door wouldbe locked to supporters as I was browsing the real estate ads looking forhigh groundoutside the city. The people of the city of Scranton will be paying Mercedestaxes for VW quality of life for many decades to come by the time this mayor is done, or sooner. Running for a third term is bridesmaids work.Hard-working, honesttwo-term mayors would have great accomplishments under their belts with which to run forhigher office. He's the Hubert Humphery of NEPA.

Anyway, the above makes me wonder why Ms Evans may not want to run for mayor of Scranton. So here's my list...feel free to contribute:

THE REAL REASONS WHY JANET EVANS WILL NOT RUN FOR MAYOR OF SCRANTON
  1. City drug plan doesn't cover Dave's Thorazine perscription.
  2. It's easier to slack-off as an English teacher & quasi-council member than it is to slack-off as Mayor.
  3. Dave refuses to be called "First Lady of Scranton".
  4. Joe's demand that he be named as Director of DPW (there are a few others left in the department that he wants to try and beat-up).
  5. Her slow talking would require 18 hour days in the office.
  6. Affraid that the Benz will get scratched while parked behind City Hall.
  7. Chris keeps mumbling something about invading Dunmore.
  8. Granma keeps calling...something about making her son a police officer.
  9. Discovered that whining isn't in the job description.
  10. She knows that the domain "EvansDeceit.com" is already regsitered.

Theres' really only one reason she's not running. She's a lying two-faced self-serving bitch who would finish third in a two person primary. She will never be elected to another office in the city again. The twelve votes from DD (assuming that they're registered and actually vote) will do nothing for her.

Her political career is coming to an end.

She sure as hell isn't too good in my eyes. I think she FINALLYrealized that the "regulars" that attend council every week aren't going to be enough to get her elected.
Maybe her and her loyal followers should all move to a little island somewhere and she can be the mayor and run things the was all her little cronies want her to.
Then it would be a PERFECT world..

She does not have the financial resources, the committed campaign workers, or the backing of the people to win for Mayor. She wouldn't run for County Commisioner because of all the money Codoro and Munchak had. That didn't matter to Washo and O'Brien and they overcame it. SO the bottom line is not money its the fear of losing that will keep her out of the race for Mayor.. Doherty will beat all comers next fall. And he does have the Money....

That's a good point Taylor. I've heard that she was very uspet over losing the State Rep. primary, so your supposition may prove to be correct. We are dealing with someone who has gamed the system before to her benefit (namely getting her teaching position), so she most likely has a fairly good eye for what she can get away with and what she can't. She clearly demonstrates this trait on City Council, where she is an expert at playing to the crowd and being opposed to just about everything...while offering virtually nothing (other than a budget that was a political...NOT a fiscal...document) on her own. Yes, Janet Evans has discovered that it's easier to sit on the sidelines and call names than it is to stand in the front and lead.

Oh, and if she should decide to run, that's fine with me. That will generate TONS of material to post about here. I would throughly enjoy going through those campain finance reports.

That statement says it all. There are only a handful of people who look up to this bottled blonde. The rest of us just stand back and shake our heads. Very similar to how joe pilcheski stood back at a burning building taking pictures for posterity (and for the possibility of incrimination).

If she ran for mayor, Doherty's numbers would skyrocket and her numbers would be abysmal. And God forbid she do that favor for Chris Doherty.

I'm sure she'll be delighted to know that she has Patilla's throw-away vote for President.
