All of the talk for years about how the city safety workers deserve more respect that the administration gives them, then Stulgis blows the deal. She just became public enemy number one for the rank and file police officer. Damn shame, looked like a great deal. Perhaps its time for her to STFU.
NADB posted the Times article down the hall and the police force responds. Looks like a couple of frustrated rank & file. I wonder who's telling the truth?

RE: Det. Sgt. Lafferty spearheading attempt to oust Stulgis? From the article: "A deal in principle that would have given the city's police pay raises totaling 19 percent over four years was scuttled by the police union's president, city officials said Thursday."
LIE.
"That all fell apart whenAnne Marie Stulgis, president of the E.B.Jermyn Lodge, Fratneral Order of Police, killed the dealthat otherunion negotiatorswere poised to accept, said city administrators."
LIE. No one was poised to accept anything.
"If the recovery plan were imposed, city employees would pay about $550 per biweekly paycheck to cover health care costs, Mr. Renda said. Under the failed contract proposal, police union members would have paid less than half that amount, he said."
That means a cops take-home pay would fall to $275.00 a week, or less depending on deductions. If the city thinks cops were leaving the department before, let them try implenting that health care plan. I'll be gone before the ink is dry on the check.

Once again it looks like the above poster has wandered from PUKEboy land over here with rhetoric that continues to sink the very ships they try and sail. We just make up reports and put them out for the public to read them. (By the way, as myself and another poster here have surmised, I know exactly who JJ is and it doesn't surprise me in the least). It's flattering -the jealousy that is- but annoying because all I've done is be successful in my field wherever I've gone. I've been fortunate that good things have happened for me and my family in my 14 year career. Point- I don't need to please the administration of the city of Scranton nor any unions. If Anne Marie Stulgis or any of the other police union reps had a different side to the story, they were given- and continually will be provided- ample opportunity to state their side. In fact, I've spoken today to several officers who once again confirmed the accuracy of the report. They admit too that if they spoke publicly about their feelings it does no good for the rank and file a their hope is (as well it should) that everyone is united. Those guys deserve at least a cost of living increase but, apparently for the reasons stated by administrators, they still haven't received one. It's not Times-Tribune or any reporter's fault they haven't gotten one. Also, Anne Marie can deny anything she'd like to deny but her words were sent by her via e-mail. We went the extra mile in trying to give her the very last word and she didn't call or email us back. Who's fault is that?
Sorry Stacy but I'm not a DD poster, and I do not apologize for them. I give you no credibility. That's my opinion!
And jealous of you? Hardly, There's more to life then material things and dinning with kings or other so called important people. And you have been succesful? What, like you're the only one? A 14 year career? 14 years is hardly a career. Are you sure you're not an apprentice. And you have no idea who I am.
Well, JJ your posts are amusing. Yet, you are entitled to your opinion. I must admit that it really is not productive to try and belittle someone you don't know and someone who doesn't care. It only reduces your life span, according to experts. Apprentice? Well, I'm sure PUKE boy and his band would say something like that. By the way, that's 14 years in newspapers. As far as dining with Kings, et al., that was said a while ago to make a point and obviously that has raised your ire a bit. Unfortunately. But, it's true, I have. But, most importantly, you and the very small few (PUKEboy's gang) continue to believe for some reason that I could come here to Scranton, PA and somehow be intimidated or ruffled is the most amazing thing. Don't let the MSNBC/Times-Tribune mild-mannered, happy-go-lucky look and approach fool you.To paraphrasethe very quotable Bobby Bonilla, "I can show you the Bronx." However, that's not my style. I do my job, I go out and enjoy life with my family. My supervisors are extremely happy with my job performance, which shows in my pay and other perks; My agent and publisher are excited about the projects I've turned in and those in which we are working on; my family is happy, we serve God together. Life is good. I hope that you can find at least 1/3 of that type of happiness, comfort and peace of mind. Everyone benefits.
Ok ... If Ann Marie was given a chance to refute this story ... and she did not take that opportunity ... then how is it Stacy's fault that the story isn't accurate? She should have responded. He went with what he had .... that is his job ... is it not?

Uhmm.............Is that a violentthreat? Lus, I think Stacy is outside the rules of this forum. That sure looks like a threat of violenceto me.

That's the entire text of the comment. If you felt "threatened" I certainly apologize. I'm not in the business of threatening anyone. It's just amazing the hate. What's even more is the self-loathing that goes on in this city. City Council meetings and DD are full of the self-loathing. I've never seen anything like it. You have to be a loser, downtrodden or just insane to move to Scranton according to these people. Try going somewhere else and test the waters, I bet anything the overwhelming majority would do whatever they could to get back here. I've had the fortune of living in and enjoying the big city life, but I couldn't give this up. It's great for the kids, great for family life and quality of life. Maybe that's what the haters need to do. Leave and test the waters else where. What's that saying....grass always greener... Believe me, this is cool here and, since I've been here, I've had offers to go to about six different major news organizations, but we just couldn't see it. We purchased a home in a great neighborhood here and have invested in this community. The people I work for are absolutely fantastic as well. Stress free living and that's what it's all about. Make the best life for you and your family and don't concern yourself with what others do, especially when it has no baring on your life. Scranton has afforded that so far and more. May you find that peace JJ.
I did see that Post Paul ... I read it ... and did see that it said that it was not his style to act in that manner ... so I let the post go at that ... when taken in it's entire context ... I did no see itas a threat. But that is just one opinion.
Moderators please read this post and tell me what you think. Paul sees it as a threat ... I didn't so I need more opinions ......
edited for clarity ... how funny is that ... I feel so DD.

Well I guess i'm just not towing the PD line. I pointed out a mistake in the TT article from last week that was backed up with facts but you guys defended Stacy at every move.
Stacy post he knows who I am in his 10:58am post, and "I can show you the Bronx" in his 3:18pm post.
And all for what? Some stupid posting on message board. What makes you guys any better then DD? Because you can insult, and humiliate in more arrogant manner. This all wrong.
John you did not post the entire thing ... look to the post and see where he says it's not his style ... Paul see's the threat ... I didn't ... I am looking to the moderators ... you need to relax ... I told you in the beginning that not everyone will always agree with you ... you have your opinions ... nobody jumped on you here ... nobody threatened you with a banning because you don't agree ... we don't have a line to tow here ... you are welcome to post ... or you can choose not to ... it is totally your choice.
I pointed out to you that I didn't see Stacy's name on that article when I viewed it on the www ... so I was unsure that he wrote it ... you said that you did see it ... but didn't put that version up ... I didn't see it ...
You and Stacy do not seem to get along ... I don't know what to say to that ... I can't make you guys like each other ... I am not your mother ... I didn't see the threat ... Paul did ... I can't do anymore than ask for the opinions of all of the moderators ... they will be honest and the majority will let me know if it's a threat ... I have been told I am wrong before by the majority of the moderators ...
I apologize if you are offended ... and I hope that you are comfortable enough to continue posting. I don't personally care if you worship Joe Pilchesky or you hate him or even if you have no feelings one way or another ... it does not matter to me and to the posters here ...
I want everyone to a take a timeout and think about this. If you will all agree.
Here is a portion of that post and this is what made me think that it was not a threat:

I never saw it as a threat, either. I was incredulous that Mr. Johnson saw it as one. I thought he was joking. Even before Stacy explained himself, I saw no threat at all in the post. If he honestly found that threatening, and isn't just stirring up sh*t, then he needs to grow a thicker skin or avoid messageboards.
I say ban him on general principles. What a gutless worm.
Stacy has been nothing but a kind, gentle, honest soul since he began posting here. If someone sees differently so be it. The guy is solid, through and throuh.
You may disagree with his reporting all you like; just don't claim he's doing anything evil, aggressive, or unethical.
I have no axe to grind with you and I respect your right to disagree with anyone you want here, HOWEVER, you cherry-picked a phrase from another poster and packaged it as a threat. I read Stacy's posting and it is not threatening. In fact, he (Stacy) clearly states in his posting the fact that he's not threatening you (the "However, that's not my style." sentence). Look, you clearly came here wanting to pick fights with Stacy, and so be it...he's more than capable of defending himself. Just don't expect to use our rules as a personal battle-axe against him.
You also clearly have something against The Scranton Times, so I'm going to comment on that as well. I don't agree with everything written in The Scranton Times, but I'm also mature enough to realize that the world doesn't revolve around my sense of propriety. What's more, I also realize that newspapers aren't written by Vulcans...they are written by human beings....and everything created by humans imbued with level of bias by it's creators. However in the "Bias Spectrum", I find that The Scranton Times is far, far, far, far, far and far less biased than, for example, the much DD-loved Union News.

" Don't let the MSNBC/Times-Tribune mild-mannered, happy-go-lucky look and approach fool you." Don't let it fool you?
"I can show you the Bronx." Really? What one is nothis style, the happy go lucky, or the I'll show you the Bronx, be careful now, like he's saying, don't be fooled.
Look, if this guy is your friend and you respect him, then take it down. Why wait for JP toget it. It's embarrasing forboth your site, and Stacy.
You're gonna let Joe know about it? Are we supposed to be scared by that? Joe's a punchline. We know it and he knows it. He will do exactly nothing about it.
For the love of GOD get over yourself. JJ, if your assignment was to come here and start trouble you can report back to your leader that you have failed. We have had posters like you come here before they, just like you, attempted to manipulate the posters and the message of this board. They, just like you, failed! We have all been at this for a awhile now. We know exactly what is and what is not really happening. Nice try though!
You are welcome to post all you like on whatever subject you would like to discuss. However, please do not expect us to fall in lock step behind you and your friends or make the mistake of assuming we are not fully aware of what is going on here at all times. Don't confuse nice with stupid. Just a suggestion dear.

Pilchesky to target it? Are you kidding? If you are looking for people who care about what Mr Court-System-Abuse thinks, then you are at the wrong message board John.
As far as Stacy being "our friend", he's just being afforded the same level of courtesy as anyone else here. Personally I don't know the man...never met him, never spoke to him. However, I'll come to his or anyone else's defense if I think it's warranted.
Finally, in the grand scheme of "site embarassment", I think we are grain of sand on the beach compared to DD. We don't target children here...we don't engage in wholesale racist attacks here...we keep our criticisms to the actions that people (such as Janet Evans) take...we don't ban people for simply disagreeing.
Seriously John, you're missing the mark on this one by a wide margin.

You think I'm from DD? Well you're wrong! You guys want to be like them go ahead, that's your decision. If I had made that statement to Stacy (with you thinking I'm from DD and all) you would all be calling the DA. You guys are hypocrites! Think about what you're doing here. You're insulting and humiliating people for insulting and ridiculing other people. It's all wrong, no matter who does it. You think because you're better then them because your insults are somehow above theirs. I think one of the most digesting things some of you do is to mention God. Go show your post to your priest, see if he condones them. Hey Paul, you think you're a big man for posting You-Tube videos of a handicap man, pathetic! You call them out for insulting council members about their looks, then you all go ahead and make fun of Fay for not having teeth? Go ahead, Lus, show these post to your pastor, let me know what insults are considered acceptable.
Very entertaining! The title of this thread made me take a look and the rest of the thread put me to sleep. Great stuff people, like watching grass grow. Very captivating!
Getting back to the initial subject, I read those articles. Those statements by city officials were nothing more than an attack on the union president to drive a wedge between the police folks. I believe Stulgis should have responded, but it's anyone's guess why she didn't.
I thought Stacy's articles, recently, made Chris Doherty look bad. One headline says the city wins a case. Then within the article it says the city stops negotiations and a few lines later has Chris Doherty saying he "wants to talk" to them. Talk about a 360. Then the police clobber the city again with an arbitration decision, but the day before it hits the press, the city takes a swipe at Stugis.
That article was for damage control in my opinion. Attack someone who is exposing the city officials for what they are. Creeps!
I said it before and I'll say it again. The Scranton Times has a undying love for Chris Doherty and there has been a bias in their reporting when it comes to him, for whatever reason. I read the Times for entertainment value, not in a search for factual information. Never have, never will.
Well if he comes back great ... if he does not ... great ... either way ... my life will not change!
