Unless it was a direct, or even an indirect threat, I don't believe Judge Corbett has any custody over an attendee of a hearing. That being said, I don't believe she has the authority to order anyone to go anywhere for any reason if they don't want to. Neither do the police. What the girl said may very well fall under the protection of free speech, whether Judge Corbett likes it or not. Believe me, she says plenty of things other people don't like. I wonder if it's a part of the transcript. Do you happen to know the name of the party who had appeared to be sentenced?

So a judge cannot order a defendant to jail? That's a new one.

But in times of depression the spoils system is self-destructive. So let me get this straight... ...this young lady is in court & doesn't like the sentence imposed by Judge Corbett on her brother ...she makes a smart-a$$ed comment while leaving the court ...Judge Corbett calls her back and she is blocked from leaving by an officer ...she assaults the officer AND ...it's somehow all the FAULT of Judge Corbett???? What f^%king planet are these people on? Here's a bit of advice: when in court DON'T MAKE SMART-A$$ED comments to the judge. The parent/parents of this child need to be charged: charged with failing to teach their children how to act like quasi-civilized human beings. Oh, and Anti claims that the police "muscled her around, like they do everyone else"...where, pray tell, is DD poster Nelson? After all, if Mayor Doherty would make such a claim, Officer Nelson A. would be all over him. This "muscling around" must be a part of the news that Nelson claims to get all the time from DD. Don't you know it's ok in the world Pilchesky to be disrespectful to any person who is not just a regular "Joe" ... hell he encourages people to be disrespectful daily ... especially to judges ... come on we didn't really expect that anyone over across the hall would come down on this girl for her lack of respect did we? I know I don't and never would ... And I love how anti claims she probably has bad parents or comes from a broken home ... well ... there are many people in this world who overcame their parents and have come from broken homes ... but they don't use it as an excuse to get away with things ... they use it as an experience and try to be better than the example that their parents have set for them ... Anti just love to lay the blame on others ... well maybe this young lady will learn from this ... and show respect in the future ... who knows ... it could turn out that way! __________________ I want everyone to stop and think about one thing ... The lack of knowledge in regards to rules, procedures, manners, respect, etc. are quite telling. Only Joe could think that cursing at a judge in court and throwing a hissy fit when called on it would be an OK thing to do. Decorum Joe. I know that lost on you. __________________ Make Jack pack!
