RE: Firefighters' morale "zero" Every person on every type and kind of job makes it his own business as to how well he does his job. However, there are various built-in consequences to many types of jobs. Workers of all kinds of jobs are accidentally killed or maimed on the job,and usually by their own negligence, but always unintentional. Many good cops and fireman, in particular, walk intoidentifiable consequences - intentionally. That takes balls.Period. Sometimes they can pick the time and place, other times the time and place picks them.Someone who criticizes a fireman should walk intoan inferno looking for a trapped victim.Someone who criticizes cops should walkdown a dark alley one time looking for gunman, and finding him. Walk in their shoes for an hour, or maybe just ten mintues, then come back here and tell us what you felt that one time. Then, multiply that times 100, or maybe1000.Go to a cop's or a fireman's funeral. Share the experience with us. Do those experiences balance waiting for them to happen while at a donut shop or sitting on a bench? You bet your ass.
Chris Dohertyis a blue collar/working manhater because he has yet to work a single day in his life. The only dirt he's ever gotten under his fingernails is the residue left fromshaking George or Bill Lynett's hand. The only sweat he ever brokewas hoping his wife never found out about Sara. The only real pain he ever felt was when he realized that he's as much of a puppet to the Lynett/Mellow/DeNaples machine as Gatelli/Fanucci/McGoffare to him. The only muscle in his body that ever worked hard ishis tongue, used to lick George Lynett's ass clean after every Stacy Brown article.
First, I don't deny the premise of this thread, namely that firefighter morale is probably pretty low. They deserve a contract that provides for raises that at least cover inflation on a year-to-year basis. What's interesting here though is that you have Pilchesky trying to push all the buttons in a single paragraph...
The "Class Envy" button - Doherty hates certain people ('Blue Collar' types*) and hasn't worked a day in his life. I suppose Pilchesky believes this because, unlike him, Doherty has made his living via intellectual capital, as opposed to physical capital.
The "Marital Infidelity" button - Did Pilchesky think that all of a sudden this the 1,415th repitition of the completely unfounded rumor would hit the mark? This one falls into the "Dramatically Discredits DD" category, especially coming from Pilchesky...usually he lets minions like Milo handle the real dirty stuff. I guess he figures that he needs to throw one out there every now and then to get the crew excited.
The "Vast Conspiracy" button - We have the mythical IBM (Doh! I meant ICN) and the Blackhand/DeNaples all in one sentence. He should have thrown in the Illuminati, Jesuits and the Rothchilds in for good measure as well. As I've said time and time again, if you are a self-styled superhero, you need a self-styled arch nemesis as well.
The "Biased Media" button - How ironic that the DD crew continually cries about biased at the Scranton Times but yet the #1 source for news pastings at DD is, you guessed it, the Scranton Times. For a publication that they supposedly loathe , the DD crew sure does enjoy reading the Scranton Times. Stacy Brown should take every slight made by Pilchesky as an affirmation that he is doing good work.

you're absolutley right, not that i need PUKEchesky to reaffirm that i'm doing a good job, but you see the obsession? unreal. here's a person who has accomplished what????? (long pause..) i thought so, nothing at all. What he doesn't understand and the rest is this.... I nor any other reporter wants to be liked by them. not only that, i guess there is probably just one (maybe 2) politicians who want to be liked and cheered by them. in any event, they speak against the Times, yet they bring their articles to council and quote all of the articles on their site. we get a kick when we see some of them paying their paper bill at the office, yet they hate us soooo much. I've said it before and will say it again, i hope they can eventually come to terms with their lives and live it in a better way. I've never been happier with my life and there is only good things, great things, ahead. by the way, that's the answer to the question i'm often asked...how do you stand at those council meetings through all the garbage? life is simply too good for me to let any of that bother me in any way shape or form. plus, i don't get involved in politics. by the way, i've been tabbed to be the keynote speaker at next month's black history month dinner at Lackawanna College. Mellannian News, the black newspaper, is sponsoring the event feb. 28. oh, but according to PUKEchesky, i'm a sell out or something like that. ha!
