paraphrase from Daily Double post regarding Cordaro interview ::: ... I was amazed that during one interview on the radio last night he actually said he wasn't worried about himself because he would be better off if he lost ... :::
I don't have Sam Patilla's crystal ball or anything, but try to look at it this way. It seems as though Washo and O'Brien will take the majority positions. Munchak, who isn't very elloquent or much of an orator, is relegated tothe minority role. He'll (for some reason or other) not be able to handle being packed offto the cheap seats and will resign his position as Minority Commissioner. Who do you think will be nominated to replace him?
Four more years, $80,000 annually and blue-chip benefits for a 62-year-old who is not exactly in tip-top physical shape? You couldn't drag Minority Commissioner Munchak out of there with a crane.
He's there until January 2012, when the Republicans will no longer even bother to have a minority commissioner. They will just write-in Ed Karpovich like the good little political prostitutes that they are and he can serve in two seats.
Who is the big goofy looking guy sitting in the foreground when they televise the commissioner's meetings? He sits at the table right in front of Munchak. He must have his head impacted up Cordaro's arse, because every time Washo speaks, he's got an ugly smirk on his kisser.
I can't wait to see THAT guy gone -- just on general principal.
I can bet nothing will change with the democrats in charge It will be buisness as usual remember the 21 years with the last ones pigion dump. prision scandal, etc. Same thin just diffrent people.
Well now come on Doomers you are not trying to say that Codaro and Munchak didn't have a prison scandal are you? Because as I recall they currently do have quite a scandal on their hands.
Not much changed as was promised under the guidance of Codaro and Munchak ... unless of course you count a 48% tax increase ... yeah there was a huge difference under those two.
I guess we will just have to agree to disagree that there can be a change with these two guys ... maybe we won't have a prison scandal in the next 4 years!

First, anyone who thinks that there is any kind of difference between Republicans and Democrats at a city or county level needs to have their head examined. Democrat Chris Doherty is more 'conservative' about many social issues than most Republicans. Republican Bob Cordaro liked to spend money just as much as Democrat Joe Corchran...so much for fiscal conservativism. As Lus pointed out, both administrations had prison scandals. Face it, they are all cards out of the same deck...it just keeps getting shuffled every few years.
Second,Cordaro's biggest failure in my eyes is that he talked one game but played another:
Exercising Fiscal Restrait...big tax increase and lots of spending.
Fixing the Prison...baby born on the floor and Munchak saying that "policies were followed" (Maybe someone can tell me what policy provides for a birth on a concrete slab?).
Whinning about being exluced as minority commissioner...he practically exiled Washo to Siberia.
End to 'Backroom' Deals...Getting the Yankees here was the ultimate backroom deal.
People here are slow to change (and even slower in Wilkes-Barre, by the way, hence 'Skrepdaddy' still has a job in Luzerne County), but once they realize something is wrong they do act, and that's what they did in the last election.
Bottom Line: Cordaro and Munchak gave this election to O'Brien and Washo. This has NOTHING to do with actual differences in governing philosophy between political parties.
