Editor: Much has been in the news lately about pedophiles. Recently Albert Liberatore Jr., a former priest, received probation for violating Megans Law; attempted child abductions were reported in Scranton, and several municipalities are setting boundaries defining where convicted sex offenders cannot reside.
I believe that as along as pedophiles are released from prison they are a danger to the welfare of our greatest resource, our children.
During my 15 years as a corrections officer, I have seen several repeat offenders.
There is no pill, no counseling, no prison sentence or no sure cure to treat these individuals, to keep them from stealing the innocence of our children.
Under Pennsylvanias Jessicas Law, a global positioning technology can be used to track sex offenders or sexually violent predators. Funds have not been allocated for the GPS monitoring systems. Its time that our lawmakers find the funding and put this great tool in our law enforcements hands. An exact location on these sex offenders under the watchful eyes of law enforcement would give us an extra opportunity to keep our children safe.
These offenders should be monitored until their probation is completed. How can you put a price on our childrens safety? Whatever helps to keep these soul stealers from hurting our children is worth the price.
PATRICK OMALLEY
SCRANTON
Since Pman banned me for correcting Edith one too may times, I would like to dedicate a topic to some of the half-baked, hair-brained, Edithisms the Pman's spousal unit chimes in with.
Yes Edith, it might be the "same" O'Malley, but I'm not really sure what "same" O'Malley you mean.
Now if you're talking about the election for Scranton School Board, it might surprise you that there are actually TWO candidates on the ballot with the name O'Malley, and to complicate things further for you, there is actually a current member of the board with...what you guessed it.... the name O'Malley. He's not running again though, so that should be a relief. Furthermore, if you want to stick your nose in the school board slate, you should begin by repeating the following phrase to yourself....."It's MIKE Sheridan...not William. It's MIKE, not William."
Just so everyone knows that is the same O'Malley ... Patrick who is going to be a SSD School Director ... he along with Kathleen McGuigan ran on and won on both tickets ... they are pretty much assured a seat on the Board.

RE: THIS JUST IN: 61 MAY BE TOSSED ON JAN. 11 I really don't think it's an issue of money, it seems to be an issue of space. However, the intent and integrity of Finnerty and Channel 61 will be tested here. There are many ways to get around having to move equipment for the sake of broadcasting; the equipment doesn't need a room of its own, it can be set up anywhere there is space. Council chambers has space to include the rather large table that the Jr. Council uses. I'm sure Mr. Miller could present and support a motion to his members for the good of the city to give up their space until the situation is resolved. And, if they are unable to take the right action for the community interest, then Gatelli can also authorize the use of that space.
This situation can only serve the citizens in a positive way no matter what happens. It will expose the players and characters for who they really are and that's an education that's priceless.
Oh Joanne, are you talking about the same Mr. Miller who was crucified on you husbands hate site earlier this summer??? the child???
And I'm sure Mrs. Gatelli would oblige your wishes.
