Can anyone tell me what ever happened to Bob Bolus ? He went from dominating the clowns that appear at Council Meetings to nowhere to be found !! I would love to know what happened to make him leave.

Bolus has an enormous ego, but I think it's somewhat tempered with a genuine desire to help the city (as evidenced, for example, by his work with the Jr Council on the swing set...something I learned about at DD, not through anything Bolus said himself)...this is as opposed to serial-plantiff Pilcheksy who has an equally sized ego but who doesn't give a damn about Scranton.

Bolus got really quiet after they did not grant him an interview for the Council seat opening after Bob McTiernan resigned ... he said that he would not be back to speak and stayed away for a long time ... until the DD'ers began picking on young Doug Miller and that's when he made an appearance and then he appeared again in defense of Yourn Mr. Miller once again with the placement of the swingset.

Just a friendly reminder, if you want to pick on adults (with in reason of course) who are public figures have at it, but please do not attack or demean a child. I know Doug Miller is a young man and not a full child but he is still very young and deserves credit for doing something positive with his time. Thank you
Flower Child and RTP be as mad at me as you wish ... but your posts concerning young Mr. Miller have been removed ... posts picking on and calling children names ... and yes Doug in my opinion is still a child ... will NEVER be tolerated here at PD. If you wish to continue this behavior I suggest that you register at DD where they tolerate this daily in fact they encourage this behavior!

Mr. Miller's involvement with and support of the local community has earned my high admiration. I wish he could play a more active part in city government. That said, he continues to inject himself into the petty squabbles of politics and deserves to be slapped down once in a while. By this, do I mean name-calling and unfounded personal attacks? Certainly not. But he has placed himself on the field, so he must learn to suffer through the occasional hit.
He will be better for it five to ten years down the road...especially in this county.
Glenn criticize away ... I'm not telling anyone not to criticize ... hell I have done that myself ... do I feel he was right on his thinking that if that swingset didn't go where he wanted it to go then there would be no swingset ... hell no he was wrong ... but will I condone name calling of a child ... and yes it is my opinion that he is a child ... he may not like that but that is what he is ... I will NOT ... state opinions of what he does in a respectful manner ... it can be done ... and if you all want your posts to remain concerning young Doug ... you will be respectful.
Make strong ... valid points ... however leave the childish behavior out ... we are supposed to be adults ... lets act like it.
There will be a rule about this ... and this will become the worst infraction one could make on this board ... there will be no child bashing here ...

I assume you probably didn't see the two posts in question. I would say they fell into your above mentioned catogory. I know you do not go for that nonsense either. I agree with both you and Lus basic constructive critism is fine but nothing beyond that, as Lus said he is still a child.

He puts himself out there and considers himself to be part of "city government." He has made it very clear he represents the city, etc. You want to play dress up, then you should be able to handle a little disagrement and crtique. I agree he is a kid, then he shouldn't be playing "adult."
Doomers ... I understand what it is you are saying ... please try and understand what it is I am saying.
I am all for open discussion ... and if you have a problem with what this young man has done ... or what he has not done ... then please give a civilized criticizm ... that's all I am asking ...
I will put it to you this way ... If Doug were your son would you want adults to be calling him names ... or would you like them to give constructive criticizm ... tell him what it is that you feel he is doing wrong ... and then and only then will he be able to learn from it ... but if we sit here and disagree with him and then call him names rather then letting this young man know that we feel he is wrong for something ... how will he know what he is doing that offends us? Isn't it our responsibility as the adults to try and teach our youth instead of calling them names and putting them down?
I am just wondering ... and I know that you did not take part in the name calling ... but you seem to be defending the actions of those who did.

I agree, I just don't like that he takes his directions from Bob Bolus. He needs to be his own man, and i wouldn't want anyone to call my son names either, however I would tell my son in advance "if you play dress up, prepare to wear the correct size clothes." Bob Bolus can't serve public office so I "think" he is "grooming" this "kid" into a future position, which is WRONG on Bolus's part. Kids need to be kids.
I think a central point here is that Mr Miller is not a "man", therefore he can't be "his own". No disrespect to Mr Miller, but I remember what I was like at his age, and while I'm sure he is much more mature than I was, the fact remains that he is still in high school.
There always has to be a floor...a point at which you draw a line and go no further. At DD there is no such thing, unless you count questioning how Janet Evans got her teaching position. We, however, have an obligation to always try and do better. That's one of the reasons why I post here.

I post here because I can point my finger across the hall with one hand and laugh out loud behind the other over here. I'll leave the political debates to the rest of you.
I feel Doug and the rest of Junior council did a great thing to get the handicaped swing set for the children. But I think they did the wrong thing when they said at the council meeting the money would be returned because the swing set was not going where they wanted it.Who cares where the junior council wanted it ? This was for the handicaped children and bob bolus agreed with Doug and junior council shame on Bob and shame on Junior council for depriving Handicaped people their swing set.
