My name is Dawn Gatelli, and I'm your English teacher

I am familiar with the hiring process for the Scranton School District considering I interviewed a few years ago for English. You are questioned by a panel of three people. I had the principal of West Scranton, an English department chairperson at West and the Union president. You are asked a series of questions, and your responses are scored; however, you are given major points if you were educated grades K-12 in the Scranton School District and if you live in Scranton including the number of residency years. They even photocopied my drivers license to prove residency. Anyway, there was a huge number of English interviewees that year. Your score, based on the areas aforementioned, places you on a list. The list can last for years. I placed high enough to be offered a position that year; however, I declined the job because I was offered another job in a better district.

Here's the punchline: the same year I interviewed, so did Gatelli's daughter. If my memory serves me right, I was told she placed in the early 300's on the list. I kid you not, because I remember hearing Judy was not pleased by this at all! The list only changes if people are hired, decline jobs or if they open up the list to new interviews. Now, if they didn't conduct new interviews, it's amazing to me how far up on the list they have had to go to in order to find a teacher, that is, Gatelli.

Did not want to coppy whole thread so feel free to visit if you wish to view thread, just wanted to clear up a few lies from across the hall. First of all Dawninterviewed many years ago and was I belive #68 for ELEMENTARY NOT ENGLISH, the school board decided to interview ONE YEAR EARLY instead of the normal 3 years a list is kept for by the way Dawn would have been hired that year as she was number 5. After the list was done again she moved to number 168 NOT 300, as did many other teachers who were to be hired. SO much for JUDY having that much pull. Her daughter has served as a sub in Scranton for 6 years. She has two degrees, plus 2 teaching certificates one for ELEMENTARY AND ONE FOR ESL and she also has her masters degree from marywood university where she graduated top of her class, so for all the @## holes across the hall, I think she has paid her dues, if indeed she does FINALLY get hired, as for nepotism that someone mentioned, that would only be the case if one of her IMMEDIATE FAMILY actually hired her, and that is not the case either, as for all of Judys family supposedly having crony, do nothing jobs, that is a lie also, the the teacher daughter is unemployed and her other daughter is a secretary for a private firm, not even located in scranton, so beofre you go spouting lies about her daughters and her GET THE FACTS STRAIGHT FIRST. I know her daughter Dawn and she is a great teacher and a wonderful friend. thanks for letting me set the stroy straight, maybe someone can inform the idiots acrooss the hall.

I think the crew at DD should be the LAST to comment about the process for teacher selection in the Scranton School District [cough, Janet Evans, cough].

KTM You are correct!!
I read your post. I called 45 min. ago 2 people who know what the process was because they were there. They are tied to the political machine but never the less they were 2 of the interviewers. Mrs. Gatelli's daughter scored no less than 344 from what they recall. There was an out cry because she got a job subing over many applicants that scored higher. There is a website with a couple of, well maybe a few people who called you a liar. I think they have 8 or 9 registerd posters. I just wanted you to know that you were correct. Oh and speaking of the other site. I found out today that one of them is in hot water for stalking and leaving GOTTCHA notes at the victims homes. Car andlic # the whole load. AndIthought Volvos were only sold to smart people. GOTCHA my a$$. Also if you pm me I will tell you the story on Notadumbblonde who posts here and seems to pretend they are CWMN Janet Evans. Good luck in your other district teaching job. Can't make this $hit up.

Uh ohh Joey once again you are not quite fast enough!! Edited for "Clarity" ??
I think not! Edited for "protection" of the princess seem more likely to me. Too bad we have the original post, including the the comments you neededto remove for more "clarity"(sanitized), all safe and sound over here. :))

RE: Gatelli's daughter hired by SSD

You gotta love the good ole' NEPA. In the face of repeated criticism over crony hiring, Judy's daughter comes up with a plum job. Doing what? Teaching Spanish kids how to speak English? How do you do that unless you can also speak Spanish? And, can she?

Gatelli's daughter hired by SSD

why am I not suprised?
DOes this daughter have a degree? experience? Or DOes being a daughter of a political oinker count?

Yes, in fact this daughter of judys has 2 degrees, including a masters degree from Marywood, 5 years teaching experience, and one more thing you do not have to speak Spanish to teach ESL, you are not only teaching Spanish kids, but ALL children whose first language is not Enlish, so as you all say in DD land G.F.Y

Now why let a little thing like reality get in the way of some good rumor mongering? Besides, I say let them continue to rumor monger, because that will only lead back to Ms Evans and her questionalble appointment...little thing about people living in glass houses throwing stones, don't ya know...

Isn't Mrs. Evan's son also employed as a teacher in the SSD? Funny how that doesn't seem to be a problem!

English teacher candidate?

I am familiar with the hiring process for the Scranton School District considering I interviewed a few years ago for English. You are questioned by a panel of three people. I had (you didn't have, you were "interviewed by") the principal of West Scranton (High School), an English department chairperson at West and the Union president. You are asked a series of questions, and your responses are scored; however, you are given major points if you were educated grades K-12 in the Scranton School District and if you live in Scranton including the number of residency years. They even photocopied my drivers license to prove (my) residency. Anyway, there was a huge number of English (teaching position) interviewees that year. Your score, (was) based on the areas aforementioned, places you on a list. The list can last for years. (The list lasts for years. Of course it "can last" - it's a list) I placed high enough to be offered a position that year; ( comma) however, I declined the job (You declined the offer, not the job) because I was offered another job in a better district.

Here's the punchline: the same year I interviewed, so did Gatelli's daughter. If my memory serves me right, I was told she placed in the early 300's on the list. I kid you not, because I remember hearing Judy was not pleased by this at all! The list only changes if people are hired, decline jobs (decline offers) or if they open up the list to new interviews. Now, if they didn't conduct new interviews, it's amazing to me how far up on the list they have had to go to in order to find a teacher, that is, Gatelli.
