Since he's precluded from actually serving on Council because of a felony conviction (not to mention the fact that no one votes for him because he's an ass-hole), nothing prevents him from acting as an "advisor" to Junior Council. It is in this unofficial role where he believes that he has some sort of privelidge and influence in city government.

He thinks that since it was his idea for a Jr. Council (don't remember if it really was his idea or not) that he is the defender of them when he feels someone is picking on them he snaps to action and speaks to defend them ... does anyone remember if it was his idea or not?
I also want to add ... if I were a parent of a Jr. Council Member I wouldn't want them shadowing the adult version ... I don't really think it's s good idea ... what are your thoughts?
I know that the council does more than meet one time per week ... but most of the job they do is spent in their home ... I don't think it's a good idea to have the Jr. Council members in the homes of the Council members ... just my thought on that ... I don't know if you all agree or not ... but it is how I feel.

I like the concept of a Junior Council, but the political climate in Scranton (thanks to the likes of Pilchesky, 'Foam @ the Mouth' Franus and others) makes it difficult to implement. We've already seen young Mr Miller attacked at DD, which really goes to show the caliber of people attracted to the world-o-Joe.
As for Bob Bolus and his connection to it, I guess my response is a big 'So What'. If he wants to somehow stay connected to government in this way AND the Jr Council does good things (such as the handicapped swingset), then I'll fall back on my basketball days and say "no harm, no foul". For some reason I don't find him nearly as offensive as Franus, Spindler, et all.

I find it offensive that he has the gall to pass the basket at his church. That is a picture that just doesn't sit right with every other image of him.

Hi, I'm new here, but thought I would share some information on this topic. The Jr Council was started because Doug Miller's mother saw an article in a local newspaper about the borough of Waymart having a Jr Council. She knows the past longtime president of that council and called her for information on starting one in Scranton. Doug and Mrs Gatelli then spoke to her about it. After a week of discussion, Scranton City Council approved a Jr council for the city. As far as Mr Bolus helping the kids...I think it's just that. He's helping them because no one else has been willing to aid and defend them. From what I see, Bolus is doing a great job with the kids, and the kids should be applauded for all they have done. ::: ... called her for information on starting one in Scranton. ::: Boy, I'll bet she's regretting THAT decision. Doug takes a lot of crap from some of the speakers at council. Just so long as he doesn't grow up to follow in the LOaD shoes, he'll be a fine upstanding young man.

Why would you find that interesting? It was something I had information on, and thought I'd share. Also, about me being the parent of one of the Jr council kids, nope. My kids are 12 and younger. Although I hope any one of them will grow up to do the good things this group of kids are doing. Thanks for the welcome!
