It's getting so I can't even suffer through a glance at dd.com anymore.

The saying always was "every lie is based on a shred of truth." I always took that at face value - maybe believed it a bit.

Now it's just way over the top.

No one has anything to offer other than conspiracies, bitterness, jealousy and general insanity. Not to imply the place was ever much more than that, but I used to be able to get a good debate going every once in a while.

These days it's just "psychos are us" spouting platitudes and patting each other on the back for a ball bust well done.

I guess that's what happens. Even the old loonies you used to count on for some fun eventually move on, get off the boat, skip a floor - whatever your taste may be.

Kind of sad really. Those 25 people are our crazy neighbors. Our neighbors who date their sisters, have cars on cinder blocks in the yard, year round Christmas lights, and never mow their lawns, but our neighbors never the less.

Sigh.

i couldnt agree more. I used to read some of the stuff there and laugh to myself. Imagining some of the guys i used to work with when I was a dish washer at a restuarant suring high school. Some of these guys where 40 years old, 3 teeth ect ect, but man would they tell ou what and why everyone around them was an idiot. they knew it all in their minds. It made no difference that they couldnt support themselves as an adult and they where boderline homeless.

I never paid attention to them because as a 15 or 16 yr old I had more brains and abilty in my leg than they had entirely. Basically this is who is left over there. Fay the metor maid, joe the unemployed cause no one will hire him contractor, and a few other idiots who cant afford their taxes. They are looking for handouts. Too bad!!!

I'm glad it's not just me who can't stomach surfing over there anymore. I've almost had to force myself to take a peek "across the hall" of late.

As for NotADumbBlonde, if this is Janet Evans, then we are dealing (seriously) with someone who has real mental health issues.

I would rather have my kids around nuns and priests day in and day out, than teachers the likes of Janet Evans.

I was chatting with Todd Hartman a while ago and he was put out by the fact that parochial school was our education of choice. He tried to give me a little 'what-for' in a joking manner, and I replied in allsincerity, that thelikes of Janet Evans should not be exposed to any young mind. He didn't agree with me, but he smiled as if he did.

I an attest to Joe's carpentry because he did some work in my house. He does EXCELLENT work. He's meticulous and through.

I wish I still needed work done; otherwise Id hire him again. His nephew Bobby does great work too.

just to add to the notadumbblond thing. How scary would it be if that is Janet. I mean people from clarks summit to carbondale to old forge really dislike this lady due to her annoying drone and speeches she gives. If she is outed as a major contributor to the site, man o man. After reading the supidity of the posts all the living history BS and so on. There are slight clues that would lead you to believe it is her, but i feel that if she did post she would insulate herself much better. Anyway, I look forward to the day that the names get published. I also look forward to the day joe shows his true colors and does something dumb and lands his butt in jail.

It's about time he made a few detailed rules ... but it is only my opinion ... toooooo little .... way tooooooo late ... and I'll bet that he only posted that so it looks good to the courts ... those are rules that we have had here since day one.

Any threats will be turned over to law enforcement along with the IP address of the poster who makes such a threat ... our posters here have understood that from day one ... I'm not so sure that Joey's posters will understand these new rules as threats are so common place over across the hall.

Hey BH and Clarence maybe you brain dead jerks haven't thought of another remedy the courts might choose. How does 1. language is changed in election code to avoid this problem in any future elections (i.e. can"t run for this office for X amount of years after serving as tax collector) 2. An independent auditor is used for the years in question should McDowel win which solves the current problem. OOOOOOOOOOO ever think of that as a remedy? biggrinbiggrin

1. Changing the administrative code will only work if it is amended to read "any individual in a position of authority to oversee county funds" cannot assume the office of county controller. The legislature assumed at the time that it was listing all county positions since the county code only allows for those. It did not foresee a county expanding duties or creating a "new position".

2. If an independent auditor is all that is necessary, then any county official should be able to run using that excuse.

3. Whether Kenny is or is not on the ballot is of no importance to me, since I will have nothing to do with the position under any outcome. However, the intent of the law is to prohibit someone having control over county funds from having the ability to audit themselves for two years after their term ends. I believe his candidacy is in jeopardy. Sure thing? No. But the risk is there.

Glenn the post looks fine in 14 font ... 12 is good ... Some of our members (at least 1) ... like Ag have told us all the reason that they always use 14 is because he is slightly visually impaired ... but the post looks fine at 14.

In the future if you want any changes to a post ... just contact me ... or any of the moderators who can change the size of the font for you ...

I agree Glen and I am not saying he should be allowed to audit himself. I simply was pointing out that the court will most likely take the remedy that least impacts the current election results, as they (unlike our neighbors across the hall) will be concerned with tampering with the election process. So changing the wording (in whatever manner is necessary) for future elections and assigning a auditor in the event it is necessary (a win by McDowel) fixes the current issue. However, should the court do the above actions that may (as you have said) put McDowel in a risky postion going into the general. Since with the election code change he would be unable to run for a second term, plus the addition of an auditor may cause undue attention (negative) to be placed on him. Many may say.. oh well if he can't stay there for more than one term and we have to pay extra money for the audits I may as well vote for the other guy. The other senerio I think may occur is ..he wins... a period of cooling off occurs.. then he quietly resigns and a dem who meets the new code requirements takes his place...independent auditor services are cancelled.
The point I was making is that there are other less dramatic remedies available than the slash and burn and scorched earth remedy the DD goon squad seem to think is the only path.
