I mentioned this in another thread, but I thought that perhaps it deserved it's own thread.
I saw my DD.com name posted in the lawsuit (DarthArt). I have several issues with being included in that rogues gallery.
1) Search DarthArt over there and show me a thread where I say anything that would put me in the scummy and slimy category with those buttplugs. Every post I made is directly contrary to every post and ideal in that place.
2) I suspect that there was no real investigative process involved in compiling that list of names. Paul also mentioned that he was included. To include either of us makes me think they just selected a large group and we happened to be on it. I can't imagine we were added for the content of our posts. This makes me think that the case is already weak. I'd love for this to play out in court, and while I have nothing to hide, if my name appears on the same list as the list of people who post the filth on that site I'll be furious. Put me on any public list of people who were outed for pissing Joe off - just don't say I'm one of them.
3) I believe that I'll be guilty by association if my name appears publicly associated with those clowns. I would have to consider my own case if that were to happen. I'm not at all litigious by nature, but I feel very strongly about being lumped in with that crew. I posted there as an opposing view - not as a conspirator.
4) None of my quotes made the list of quotes in the suit. (Just stating that for the record)
5) Janet still sucks.
6) Who's name goes on the lawsuit if I posted from places other than home? The wireless downtown network, the Steamtown Mall, Northern Lights? I posted from all of those places. How is it fair to them if their IP address/account name get mentioned? They had nothing to do with it - I was just using their connection?
This suit needs some fine tuning. I'm all for outing the psychos of the DD world, but let's be sure we're outing the nuts, and not creating collateral damage just to prove a point. There is merit to the case, but it's too broad at this point. The case should have a quote attached to a name. Not an endless list of users. IMHO.

I've been named in your lawsuit. I am John Doe a/k/a Paul.
Why was I named? What post caused my inclusion? What other criteria were used in naming defendants? I was a poster in that board for about 10 days in December 2006, and was banned for disagreeing with Pilchesky. A review of my posts will verify that. A review will also show that if I even mentioned your name, it was to defend you. There are several other defendants in your suit who were unfairly named under similar circumstances.
I seem to recall that Pilchesky's "kill political careers" comment listed in your suit was in response to a post of mine directly questioning his ulterior motives. Was everyone who posted in threads where examples were cited just named as a defendant without researching the posting history or even simply the posts in the thread?
I wish you luck in your suit, but whatever methodology you used to name your John and Jane Doe defendants strikes me as incredibly lazy and inaccurate, to say the least.
I read today where I have been named in your lawsuit against Joe Pilchesky. I am aka/ DarthArt.
I was appalled to see myself included as a person of interest in that long list of people who badgered, threatened and harassed you. A simple review of my posts would reveal nothing but contempt for the likes of Joe Pilchesky and his followers, and nothing but sympathy and support for you.
I'm assuming that your suit is a blanket list of members of that site, but I must emphatically request that a more detailed analysis be performed and that my name be removed from your lawsuit. I do not want to be "guilty by association" with the animals that attacked you at that site. Please search my user name and see for yourself that I supported you and warned the regulars at dohertydeceit.com to stop their offensive behavior.
For what its worth, I am not even allowed to post at that site anymore. I have been banned since earlier this year because of my defense of you, our council, the mayor and our city.
Please let me say right up front I have no first hand knowledge, this is purely a guess on my part. I think what may be happening here is that they are casting a wide net so they can gain access to the web admin computer and review all posts from all posters from a certain time frame.This will allow them to review both the posts that are up and those he has deleted.He has stated on many occasions that he has every post he deleted in a file.I am quite sure Joey intends to wrap himself in the flag and hum taps at every opportunity to proclaim his right to free speech,however gaining access to posts such as yours Art and Paul, among others, will show his penchant to suppress the freedom of speech of those he disagrees with or who take an opposing position.It will also debunk his claims that he does allow dissenting opinion by having a few "dissenters who we all suspect are him fanning his own flames. They will be able to show if all those token dissenters are really him in his many alter-egos. I believe having these posts should take the wind of his sails.
I hope I am right but it is what I would have done given the same opportunity.
What you're saying could very well be true, the part that has me and Paul riled is the fact that we're named in the suit as defendants. (I'm putting words in Paul's mouth here - but I think that's how he feels)
If they need all of the admin files to prove a point, fine with me. But I don't want anyone thinking that I'm a crazy scumbag. Very few, if any, people will search user names to see what we posted. They'll just lump us all together as "the dirtballs from dd.com."
I refuse to be lumped into that group and will fight to be removed from it.
Actually IHave ... all of the posts go into to a sparklit archive ... they are deleted from the thread ... but they stay there and the only option that you have is to restore the posts ... Joe did not make a file of these posts ... Sparklit did.

Whoo hoo even better!! Having never hosted a web page I have no idea how the admin side of one works. I am thrilled they are saved to a server file he can't get his grubby little fingers on and "edit for clarity". Thanks for the info Lus

I'm sure that the only reason they are suing everyone is that they want to get a hold of his computer ... and they want the IP addresses ... so I'm sure that once they get a hold of that computer then they will go through all of the posts and then eliminate those who are not really a part of the harrassment ... so in the end they will not be after Art and Paul ... for now they want them all ... I didn't look ... but I'm sure that I was a poster and maybe I'm also on the list ... who knows .... I used to be LusNewVoice remember ... then somebody took that name ... I was VoiceOfReason also ... so let me know if I'm on the list!

Conspiracy theorist that I am, when Les (and friends) were skulking around over here, I made it a point to check what IP addresses I could. I have them here in a file on my computer. If their IP addresses do become available, WE may be able to check them against the ones I found.
Girl I did not see this post before today ... and I would love to have a copy of those IP addresses.
If you noticed I am going to begin listing IP's of people who do not provide a valid email address when they sign up.
We were being killed with sign ups each day ... bogus sign ups that is ... and well I I posted an IP address (a repeat offender) and guess what ... no more sign ups ... and I will continue to post IP addresses ... I would love to have the ones that you have though this way I can compare them and see if they are the same people ... thanks in advance!
