How about this post made by poster Nobody (Mr. Moran from Hollow Avenue) ... I find it rather disturbing as his posts show him to be slightly unstable.

Take a look!

RE: TONIGHTS MEETING IS OFFICIALLY CANCELLED

A metal detector at city hall?

The city requires all off-duty officers to carry weapons. Further, many of us who don't work for the city also are either required or wouldn't be without our weapons. There's no prohibition against weapons in city hall for any person with a carry permit, as far as I am aware.

Even further, what provisions are there for storing weapons? Who is guaranteeing their security? Who will be manning the detectors? Is someone going to to deny legally armed personnel their right to access governmental business? On whose authority?

I smell another lawsuit...

I think he is packin as they say when he attends meetings ... and is worried about the safety of the weapon should he be made to leave it outside of the council chambers ... well hello genius ... leave the gun home!  I don't care if you have a permit ... if I'm sitting next to you at a meeting (and I have by the way) I don't want you to have any weapons or anything that could possibly be used as a weapon on your person .... thank you very much!

Lus.. I read a few laws on carrying a concealled weapon and he would have NO law suit. There are many places you can't carry..theaters, court rooms and concert halls..damn..if you don't like the movie what are you gonna do?? Anyway they can stop you from carrying in city hall.. I think if youre an off duty cop you could keep it, but as far as john public do you really need to carry in a meeting?

Hey Flap ... I don't see why one would feel the need to carry a gun into a public meeting of any type ... even if Mr. Moran didn't use it ... what's to stop the guy next to him who spots the weapon from using it ... there is just no good that could possibly come from that situation.

THis all goes back to the responsibility issue, and the fact that to a poster, almost every poster at DD fails to grasp the concept.

Just because one CAN do something, it doesn't always mean that one SHOULD do something. Yes, I understand the Right to Bear Arms (no Granma, I'm not talking about having hairy arms, or wearing short sleeves. That's something else). This is a "Time and Place" issue. Council Chambers are neither. Ever.

I was watching C-span the other day. Not once did anyone point a finger at a committee member and name call. Not once did a speaker at the podium foam at the mouth like a rabid dog during their monologue. Not once did anyone come up to the podium dressed like they just dragged themselves from a dustbin. No one stood at the podium wearing a hat (they took it off to show respect for their surroundings).

And because respect was shown to the office and the surroundings, and none of the above antics were pulled, there was absolutely no reason for the committee members to respond by adjourning a meeting or removing a camera or snicker at comments made.

Check your basketful of crazy (along with your handgun) at the door before you sign your name to that paper to speak before a legislative body.
