Administrative Hearings Office

The Administrative Hearings Office receives filings, conducts hearings and prepares adjudications in matters concerning insurance laws and regulations. Hearings are held on certain insurance policy terminations as well as many other types of cases. The hearings are conducted at our main office in Harrisburg, and some hearings are conducted in Pittsburgh and Philadelphia. Hearings are public.  You may see a list of currently open cases or view a calendar of upcoming hearings.

Additional Information

If you are unfamiliar with Insurance Department hearings, please see the Department's Guide to Administrative Hearings, which contains helpful tips for policyholder appeals and other types of cases. Insurance Department proceedings are governed by the Department's Special Rules of Practice and Procedure as well as by the General Rules of Practice and Procedure applicable to most agencies.

To serve insurance consumers and the insurance industry, the Administrative Hearings Office publishes case decision digests which contain summaries of important cases in the Department. Also, case records are accessible to the public, and the hearings office staff will answer questions about a past or current case.
