Is this what we are paying over $125,000.00 plus for the Information Technology Dept??? For them to post all day to his Board to make it look like there are lots of posters????????? Get off the board, Jim, Frank and Jason and DO something in City Hall for a change like work instead of posting.

Did you know that's exactly what I was thinking about the DD site ... but couldn't post it ... in fact I do think I did say that about Mrs. Krake attending summer meetings.  I am so very honored that you all think that we are IT techs ... because doesn't that just show ... but we must be better at it than you ... I'm flattered ...

Every now and then you guys show up here ... and we welcome you ...to try and scare us away ... well like you ... we are here to stay ... I don't know about the rest of the posters ... because I don't know who they are ... what they do ... and when they work .... but I don't post durig work hours ... sorry to disappoint you.

Well keep on posting ... we welcome your thoughts ... and I love your little game!

There is a simple solution here, namely have the city and school district install filtering software that will block users from going to named sites while using the employer’s network. I’m not saying target DD specifically, but target ALL MESSAGE BOARDS that are not related to technology (*). The city and school district should also block access to private email accounts (hotmail, yahoo mail, gmail, etc.), as they increase the risk of virus infiltration into their networks via contaminated attachments. This is what larger private employers do, including my own. In fact, if you see a posting from me made during a working day, it’s olny because I had the day off.

Employees should be working during the day, not worshiping at the altar of Pilchesky, checking their email, etc.

 

(*) I'd make one exception for technology related message boards, as IT Professionals can often find solutions to Windows (and other software) problems on these kinds of boards.

I didn’t really read the second ‘anonymous’ post until now, so I wanted to make an additional comment.

I’m calling your bluff Mr./Ms Anonymous: go for it, inform our employers. I dare you. I double dare you. Come on now chicken-$hit, do it. I want you to make an ass of yourself. I really honestly do. Read my post above…I don’t have the ability to post at work you moron. My PRIVATE SECTOR employer has filtering software installed on our network that prevents me and the firm’s other 30,000+ employees from reaching message boards. Besides, unlike certain city employed union presidents, I'm busy at work conducting my daily business.

If you are that interested in the time employees spend on message boards, you may want to consider tackling the problem in priority order. In other words, start at DD please.

I think shear numbers tell the story here.

There are many more poeple who post at DD.com than post here. Therefore it is more likely that the net dragging will produce more DD posters playing online than people in this board.  I'd say for every one person who posts here that actually works for or does business with the city, there are 20 people at DD.com who are in a city union.

There's no way they want the city IT department to start producing the names of people who post online from city owned computers - it would be very bad for the DD poeple, not so much here. IMHO.

OK, so I was right, and hit quite a nerve I see.  I was right, not only are you posting during work, and are also IT people but probably the IT peopel that the City employs.  Everyone knows thats what the IT guys are doing all day anyway is checking out all the computers to see where people are going and what they are doing, because the paranoid Mayor is afraid some people might not like him and he wants to know who it is.  Im staying anonymous because if you knew who I was you would lose your dinner, and that thought that your little group has been infiltrated.

2. I don't even work in the public sector (that means I don't work for any government...city, state or federal).

MAn i love reading all these boards. The DD is priceless. Never has there been a more frenetic group of wannabe's. At least you guys offer a stable counter argument. I read their posts and get the impression that they feel as though they have this great following and are in the midst of dare I say a revolution.

What most of them don't understand is that they are blips on the proverbial (sp?) screen. I worked in Gov't. I was on the fed level many years ago before leaving to the private sector. This area has all the variables for cut down the middle idealism. That is what America is about. Those goofs do not understand that because they dont get what they want, when they want it. My Children had that problem untill age 8 or so.

My two cents for what they are worth is this; read their site, realize that unfortunatly the world is filled with these malcontents. They will never be happy. And believe me, if they got their way and got everyone they didnt like out and put in every one they did, the cronie-ism (sic) and deceit as well as back door dealings would be prevalent and frequent. I have seen it happen, I know. BUd Dywer shot himself in the head on live TV because some guys beat him to death over what he supposedly stole. HE never did, we know that now. Same type personality with these folks. Prey, pick and attempt to dismantle. They will not succeed because they lack very essential elements. For one, true and substanable evidence. They have none.

30 or 40 years ago these type of things where squshed early. J Edgar Hoover appointed a young man from Green Ridge to head his NY divsion because he said he had a tanacity that areas like Scranton produce. (John Malone, a truly great man) He hated hoffa, and so did another Scranton man named Frank Sheeran. My point is that despite these ignorant few, do not let them deter you from seeking a better tomarrow. This Mayor is good man, he has flaws like all men do but his heart is in the right place. He cares. I belive in the voice of the people but thereis a fine line between free speech and FREE speech.

VOR, I can see why you would be very leery of Anonymous posters, but that last one you quoted made some good points. He actually said that two good Irishmen held positions of authority. We should be so lucky to have another poster like that - we just have to get him to change his name from 'anonymous'.

It all comes out in the wash. You can't target message board posters and not include both sites (or any other non-business related site for that matter).

I'm self employed. I can post anytime I want, then fire myself for doing it. Then re-hure myself and give myself a nice big raise. Maybe I'll change my job description so I have to post here all day.

Here's the answer: No one will target web users at City Hall or any other city owned building because they'll have to discipline about half of the city work force. At best they'll announce a web posting policy.

This is a non issue.

For the most part, Art, I agree with you.

That said, where I work, we have an internet usage policy where violaters can be terminated. Is it enforced? It's impossible to, given the number of staff we have, companywide. Have some people been "made examples of", sacrificed to send a message? Absolutely. If the policies were consistently enforced, as you mentioned, at least half the workforce would be dismissed. Obviously, that is bad for business.

It is within the realm of possibility that the people let go here were on their way out anyway for whatever reason, and that "internet violations" provided a convenient excuse and an opportunity to reiterate the company policy. A show of force, if you will. My point is that a company (or administration) can, and has, selectively enforced internet/e-mail policy to serve its own purpose. I don't think there's much behind the anonymous posts, but at the same time, I'm not ready to call it a "non-issue."

I tried to make light before and heard the backfire waaay over here. I am not an IT expert and am not a city employee. The company I work for has no political affiliation with the City of Scranton. I am the only employee who lives in Scranton. I am one of the lucky few who can post from work as well as from home. My hours vary, I am in the office by myself for a considerable portion of my shift. Do I make it a point to post while "the man" (she happens to be "the dame", but the former sounds better) is here? No. Do I hide the fact that I do post from work? No, again but I don't advertise it. She and I discuss city business and sometimes these sites. We then laugh at the farsical behavior of the people across the hall.

Ahh, I see where they are thinking we are all city employees - I call them the people from across the hall. Well, please let me make a personal disclaimer here. This disclaimer in no way has bearing on this message board nor do I wish to speak for the Administrator of this message board. The only reason I call them the people from "across the hall" is because I do not wish to give them the satisfaction of actually typing the name of their board. I do not want to give any more credence or acknowledgement to the name of that board. I would simply rather refer to them as the nosey, noisy, pain-in-the-arse neighbors from across the hall.

So here we go I will respond to this now.

OK ... here is the thing ... I am a public employee ... but as you see ... I post very early in the morning and then after 3 PM ... so go for it turn me in ... but I doubt that you even know who I am ... and I wonder why the hell you would care ... you think it's perfectly fine for Nancy Krake, and Dave Gervasi to attend council meetings every week in the summer months when they should be working ... there are a few who should be working ... now Dave Gervasi and Nelson Ancharani could be scheduled off for that day as they have positions that require worker's 7 days per week ... but how the hell does Nancy Krake get the time to attend these meetings ... I know she is union and that the city workers conduct union business on the City's time ... but come on ...that's a lot of time ... I could see her coming in once a month to put on her little city bashing show ... but does she really have to do this every week?

I am not an IT tech ... and I think this little game of yours is so we will tell you who we are ... nothing more than a little mind game ... well you picked the wrong bunch to pull this on ... we don't care! Go for it ... if you have proof of who I am ... and proof that I am doing wrong on the Districts time ... well then go for it ... but you better make sure that you are right ... or Joe (because that's who I think you are) you could be in some trouble yourself ... maybe one of us will sue you! Did you ever stop to think about that ... and if the judges are as corrupt as you say they are ... well who do you think will have standing and who do you think will win ... hmmmmm .... food for thought Joe!

But anyway you greatly amuse us here at PD and we hope that you continue to post!

it during the whole scranton high shake-up   they didn't like me defending all partys.
  not that i condone what went on but i do know both persons that were involved
    those freakin' nuts over there (@dd) were out of control on that one

You just assume that Tripp Park Proud lives in the Koz Zone ... I'm not going to make that presumption ... Tripps Park is bigger than the Koz homes over there ... and there are a few of us ... that don't live in Koz Zones and yet still like the direction that this city is taking ... you all think that you are the only ones who count ... that you are the only voices of this city ... well you are wrong ... I think I addressed this in the beginning ... Not an IT Tech!

So your car is snowed in ... get a fu**ing shovel and start clearing the driveway what are Ya waitin for you lazy piece of sh**, do you want the city to do that for you? 

Tax increases ... well I can tell you that there isn't anyone who wants to pay out more money ... but how the hell can we run this city if we don't pay for it ... Hey here is an idea if you toooooo lazy to shovel your driveway ... hire someone to do it for you ... I'm sure there are kids in the neighorhood looking to make a few dollars ... oh that's right you can't afford it because of those high taxes!

I was not pushed around as a child ... am not pushed around as an adult ... Joe Pilchesky tried to push me around and this place is the result of his pushing ... I am a free thinking individual ... and if I don't want people risking their lives so I can get a gallon of milk ... and if I had to go to work ... well I guess I would have to walk ... it's  my perogative if I don't want to slam people who have been trying  to do their jobs under extraordinary circumstances ... who are you to tell me how I should feel ...  and I don't expect that anyone could have kept up with that snow the way it was falling ... how many inches per hour was it falling at ... I believe it was 2 or 3 ... if this is the worst thing that ever happens in your lifetime then my friend you are one lucky son of a bitch!

Driving in white out conditions would have been such a safe thing for the men in all the DPW departments and at PennDot to do especially when so many drivers were on the road blocking it up when they should have just stayed home ... would you have preferred it if they killed someone trying to clear the roads for you?

So here is my question to you ... if it were you out there working for the DPW ... what would you have done differently to make the situation better ... oh and my road is still not plowed ... I'm taking a break from shoveling it ... and no I don't have a snow blower ... I guess I'm a poor Doherty supporter, and you thought we were all rich!  And yet I still understand the need for a tax increase ....

But these roads have to be cleared for you just so you could move about to stalk people easier right?  I'm sure your missing that little hobby all of you DD'ers have. 

And one little comment ... isn't it a terrible thing that you have to explain to the other DD'ers why you were here ... so what ... we go over to DD all of the time ... we don't have to explain it to anyone here!  What wouldn't Joey P approve of you being here ... and I'll bet you are the anonymous poster that made us require registration ... Nice to meet you Tripp ... Get a life my friend stalking the DPW will not bring any good to your life.
