The single biggest power shift in city government was when the supermajority was voted in. Like Janet Evans and company or not, the election of the supermajority at least shut down the spending spree of the mayor. Take Joe Pilchesky out of that election and there would be no supermajority. I don't care how many miles Pat and Frank walked or how many doors they knocked on. Joe publicly annihilated Judy and Sherry for two years leading up to the election. Their ongoing political battles were always in the paper. Their legal battles were always in the paper. Joe won all of them.

The Evans supermajority doesn't see it that way. But, the truth is, even with the two years of bashing dished out to Judy and Sherry on a very public stage, they still didn't lose by that much. There's no question that at the minimum, Gatelli would have retained her seat without my public love affair with her. That's all that would have mattered. No supermajority.

I'm just wondering to myself what kind of help Janet Evans and company offered Joe now that he's under the knife for being the force that he was for them.

None. The only communications from the Evans camp were two very brief, very childish, sarcastic messages on my cell phone from her 12 year-old/husband, David. He's a man whose mouth is attached to a very dim-witted brain incapable of processing information into conclusions, logic, common sense or reason above the 8th grade level. Both communications pissed me off. That's just who he is. I think Janet has been an asset to the city, but she's missed a lot of time over her unfortunate disabilies. It's time for that old mare to consider pasture. Job well done for the most part, but moving forward our government leaders have to be fit to lead. She should respect the people enough to step aside until she recovers. She owes it to herself to retire. It's a bittersweet ending to a woman who likely had the best shot at becoming the first mayor, but in all honesty, her husband would have been a huge liability almost impossible to overcome. Yes, he's that offensive and he cares not who he offends. He has the mouth that just keeps on giving and giving, and it's all bad for her. I couldn't image him running around City Hall like it was his personal sandbox, and that's what it would have been for him. I wouldn't have voted for her myself for that reason alone. She's clearly not in charge of her life.
