I am sure that he would be shouting it from the rooftops if he did ... I know that poor Mr. Conrad (the father-in-law) served in the military and fought for our country ... as Joe has told that story many many times ... but I don't ever remember him saying that he himself ever served.

It is boring, but there is a certain sense of satisfaction knowing that...

...the sun will still rise tomorrow
...there will be a full moon every 28 days
...flowers will bloom in April

AND

...Joe's toadies will rush to his defense every time he manufactures a threat

Do you ever think that ANY of them question why Joe doesn't hand these threats over to the police???? Could it be that the threat IP address might not be different than, say, that of another Pilchesky computer? Hell, he has the freak'n email address of the "person" making the threat...this is something he requires to even register at DD.

Follow the logic here...

Real Threat
If this is a valid threat that wasn't manufactured by Pilchesky himself, why then allow the post to stay up?

"Free Speech" - If Joe will not allow a post to stand that criticizes his motives or those of Janet Evans, removing the postings and banning the posters, it's pretty clear that the concept of "Free Speech" really doesn't apply at DD. Clearly, the "free speech" arugment holds no water here.

"Sympathy" - This is what you are left with, assuming the threat was real in the first place. Joe leaves these kinds of posting up because he likes the sympathy they envoke...even if they do, in fact, violate HIS OWN rules of conduct.


Manufactured Threat
We've already beaten this one to death. Personally I think there's a better than 50/50 chance that Joe (or Edith) cooked this whole thing up. If there were letters, if those letters were actually sent by Pilchesky to the FBI and if Pilchesky was able to tie those letters to this person, the FBI could easily require the ISP (providing services to the "person" making the threat) to supply the identity of the person making the threat. Pilchesky also implies that this has been happening for a while, which makes it seem the more likely this is something Pilchesky created.


This isn't rocket science, and calling it "odd" is the understatement of the week.



Regarding Bob Cordaro...if a nuclear war were to happen tomorrow, in a years time only two forms of life would survive: roaches and Bob Cordaro (meaning...regardless of what happens, the man is a survivor).

There can be no other plausible solution to Scranton's problems with this mayor than for Mr. DiBileo to run for city council. Knocking off Gatelli and joining the Evans ticket shuts Doherty out. Doherty would probably resign if he loses council majority.

Look how far these two judges got before they were brought down. They probably ruined the lives of so many kids in the process. They made a mockery out of the justice system completely. Seven years isn't enough, even on a plea deal. It's hardly enough to make the public feel good about all that judicial abuse.

No one in our political arena more deserves to be respected than Janet Evans. I read what Joe says here about all candidates. What he says about Pat Rogan is no shock to anyone. But, Joe is Joe. We all understand where he's coming from.He tries to open our eyes. Lots of things he says need to be said and sometimes if he doesn't say them, they don't get said. OK, he's a little more blunt but who doesn't like blunt?

He says the things most others are thinking and either will not say or cannot say. He says what needs to be said. It does not matter who is on the business end of it. He's made my jaw drop more times that I can count, but that's who he is.

My point is that I respect Joe so much for who he is. He's earned it. And that'swhy I respect Janet Evans. She's earned it. I trust what Joe says and I trust Janet Evans implicitly. If Janet comes out andasks for support for Pat Rogan and Frank Joyce, she's going to get it by the thousands.

Joe is trying to save out city by being a voice against corruption. But, his voice can't vote on council. Pat Rogan's and Frank Joyce's can. With Joe's voice out here and their voices in there with Janet, voting for the people, we're on the right track. Finally.

Rogan doesn't do podium work because his youth goes on display as well as his inability to connect with homeowners and older voters.

This is a fact of life: Gatelli is sitting right there. If any candidate, from Rogan to Joyce to Charles to Hubbard wants a piece of her, there she is. Make your own way here. Any of those guys can be standing 20' away from both Gatelli and Fanucci. It's showtime. Who's going to show?

I don't know though, a lot of people seem to still like Mayor Doherty, despite how much we would all like to see change. Most people don't look at the big picture and I can't tell you how many people I talk to think he is doing a great job and respond simply by saying, "Well look at how far the downtown has come since he has been mayor." If I had a nickel for every time someone said that to me.........

I work in the corporate side of life, the educated side of the coin, so to speak. If it were left to corporate management to decide who the next CEO will be of this city, there's no question it would be Gary DiBileo by a substantial margin. The last four years with Mr. Doherty have been an exercise of futility.

We're not even close to being on the map of recovery. We are, hawever, fundamentally speaking, on the map of humiliation and embarassment.

As far as the Times-Tribune is concerned, I don't think they're so blinded by their own arrogance that they'll go too far out on a limb for Mr. Doherty. He's a loser here, as are Mrs. Gatelli and Ms. Fanucci.

I agree with the "Statement Election" assessment. I believe it may be the last one we'll need for quite a while.

I can't believe that's the best Fanucci has to get re-elected. With all the problems facing this city, and with all the progress taking place, how does she get distracted with a person's tax bill?

I can guarantee all the senior citizens who heard Fanucci speak immediately felt a chill run down their spines, knowing that any delinquent tax bills they may have are now going to be broadcast every Tuesday night.
